Raila must not agree to blackmail

The Nation Newspaper reported that, “Mr Maanzo (read Kalonzo Musyoka) asked Prof Nyong’o and Mr Kosgey to accept to being de facto leaders while his group remained de jure”.

It seems to me that KM is out to do “a Ngilu” in case he is defeated in the ODM elections. He would like to make sure that whoever wins (read R) will be left without a political vehicle.

The registrar was right to reject ODM-K application on the account that there was complain from within. It, however, beats logic why Maanzo should go to the court instead of taking up the matter within ODM. Afterall new party officials had been elected openly, in the presence of Maanzo. It had also been agreed in the presence of both KM and Maanzo that all papers pertaining to the party be handed over to the new officials.

It appears to me that KM had seen his imminent defeat and exit from ODM-K long before it became “public”. He has therefore been making preparations for the exit but not without taking with him ODM-K. KM understands that he does not have what it takes to build and popularize a new party. He therefore wants to pull the rag under his colleague’s feet by holding on to the party just as Charity Ngilu did with National Rainbow Coalition (Narc).

This action just as the proclamation of a luos “ineluctability” is being done clumsily, recklessly and without any finesse. Apart from that, it’s too early in the game to play such porker or karata for that matter.

My interpretation is that KM is only going through the motions; his heart is far away with Kibaki and Uhuru, that’s where he actually wants to belong. But he has to have apolitical vehicle to transport him to the named. That vehicle is ODM-K, hence Maanzo’s behaviour.

R and the like minded aspirants (to use Kombos lingo) should sit down and find away of either short circuiting Maanzo’s moves or jump the ODM ship completely. Parties without strong people like R are just but empty shells. Look at Safina, SDP, F-Asili, Narc and to some extent kanu.

Nothing good has come out of the so called consensus talks as I write. Why waste more time. Ruto (has thrown in the towel), KM, MM, Ojiambo, Ninajibu, Nyagah and R should all get ready to rock and roll (using the delegates system). I for one will support the winner even it were KM if he beats others via the delegates system. Even though I will be fully aware that nothing would change. And that all the gains made by Kibaki would be lost.

Mbona wakini MM wame kaa kimia wakati huu ODM inayotishwa kunyakuliwa? Ni kwanini hawaneni? Mbona hawamzui huyu baradhuli Maanzo kuleta matata kwa chama? Hata hivyo lahaula, wahenge walihenga kwamba “fumbo mfumbe mjinga mwerevu huligangua” .

OBS! News reaching me from Nairobi has it that the meeting between R and Ngilu is causing such a murmur with KMs people that they are thinking of sending a delegation to the later to warn her of isolation if she keeps on driving a wedge between R and KM. What KMs gusy don’t realise is that she is such a kigeugeu. Mara she is talking to R mara she is doing her thing with Kibaki.
